Do It With Ease
Begins Thursday, October 9, from 11:00am-12:00pm – in person
This 8-week program is designed to help you regain and maintain your range of motion, build core strength, and enhance physical fitness. All routines were designed for those who have had cancer surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, or who deal with cancer-related fatigue. Created and led by a physiotherapist.
Note that an Exercise Consent form signed by your doctor is required before the first session.

Young Adults Cancer Support Series
Begins Monday, October 20, from 6:30-8:00pm – hybrid
This 6-week series addresses the unique concerns of young adults, aged 19-40, who have been diagnosed with cancer. Topics of particular concern to the group will be discussed, including dating and sexuality, returning to work, financial concerns, putting life on hold, and more. For anyone in this age group, whether recently diagnosed or well beyond treatment.

Wills: Learning the Basics
Tuesday, October 21, from 11:00am-12:30pm
We all need to plan for the unexpected. Join Trallee Fanara, CIM, CIFP, FCSI, as she helps us to understand the importance of having a will, and what is in it, before something surprising comes along. There is a certain peace of mind that comes with knowing that you have set your wishes into a formal document, while you have time to think about what those wishes are.

Therapeutic Touch for Self-Care Series
Begins Wednesday, October 29, from 2:30-4:30pm – hybrid
Therapeutic Touch (TT) is more than just a healing method. It is a gentle, powerful invitation to connect with your innermost being and embrace true relaxation and self-love. One of Therapeutic Touch’s co-creators was a nurse who combined it with the nursing process of caring for patients. There is more than 40 years of research into this healing modality. During this 4-week series you will learn several TT techniques that will help you to relax, manage pain, reduce stress, feel calm, sleep better and heal more quickly.

Exploring Our Values in Health Care
Tuesday November 11 and 18, from 1:00-3:00pm – hybrid
A Substitute Decision Maker is meant to speak for us when we are unable to speak for ourselves. perhaps we are unconscious, temporarily incapacitated due to medication, or even approaching end of life. In this 2-part workshop, we will discuss what is meant by health care values, and how we can begin uncovering what is important to us, so we can ensure that if someone is speaking for us, they are using our voice.

How Naturopathy May Support Your Cancer Journey
Wednesday, November 12, from 10:00-11:30am – hybrid
This presentation is an overview of Naturopathic Medicine, including how it may work in a complementary way. Naturopathy does not replace traditional medical treatments, but works alongside them to help us feel better as we live with cancer and beyond. Presented by Dr. Lei Gu, a practicing Naturopathic Doctor with a focus on people who are dealing with cancer.

Adventures in Art
Begins Thursday, November 13, from 12:00-3:00pm – in person
Journaling is not the only way to work through the complicated emotions that arise because of living with cancer. In this 3-week series, you will be able to choose from a variety of mediums, and will have the chance to explore different ways to express how you have been feeling through your cancer experience. this is not about making art, but about connecting with yourself in a new way. All supplies are provided.

The festive season can be a challenging and stressful time of year for anyone. It is even more difficult for those who are dealing with cancer, whether newly diagnosed, in treatment, or beyond. Join us and learn some simple self-care and coping skills to help you manage the holidays.

Namaste Grief Support Group
Begins Tuesday, December 2, from 10:00am – 12:00pm
This is an 8-session, weekly support group for people who have lost a loved one to cancer. The group will provide educational and emotional support through reflection and group discussion. It is available for those who have been bereaved for at least 3 months.

Look Good Feel Better
In-Person workshops at Hearth Place
Learn how to manage the appearance-related effects of cancer treatments. Topics include skin care, make-up application, and wigs & head coverings. The workshop is offered on the third Tuesday of each month, from 10:00am-12:00pm.
Next dates: Tuesdays, October 21, November 18 and December 9. Note that the December date is the second Tuesday of the month.
