Welcome Back: Facilitating the way to normality and the return to school for children with cancer. A professional education program especially for parents, physicians, pediatricians and school personnel.

Location: Oshawa Public Library – Northview Branch
250 Beatrice Street East (corner of Beatrice and Ritson)
Oshawa, Ontario. L1G 7T6

Goal:
- To help families and school personnel understand the cognitive and late effects of childhood cancer treatments.
- To improve the transition of childhood cancer survivors from clinic to classroom.
- To educate families and school personnel on how to assess and effectively support a child's transition back into the mainstream school environment.

Educational Learning Objectives:
Participants will be able to:
Learn about the treatment of childhood cancers and the side effects of survivorship.
- Recognize the physical, cognitive and emotional challenges that childhold survivors face.
- Develop strategies to help meet students' short and long-term educational needs.
- Access resources that support schools, families of childhood cancer survivors and families affected by cancer.

Continuing Education Information:
Target Audience: Parents; School Teachers; Intermediate and Advanced Level Nurses; Social Workers; School Principlas and School Administrators.
