Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre was thrilled to host the Hearth Place 5K on the Runway at the Oshawa Municipal Airport on Sunday October 24, 2010! Thanks to the City of Oshawa’s sponsorship, this was the first time in the airport’s history that participants, ranging from serious runners and recreational walkers to families and school children, were allowed to use the actual runways as tracks for this type of event. All air traffic ceased from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. while runners, walkers and their supporters took part in the Hearth Place 5K on the Runway.

The runways of the Oshawa Municipal Airport were divided into a 5km course for more serious walkers or runners and a 1km course for those looking for a more leisurely way to support the centre.

Thanks to everyone's fabulous participation and generosity, over $51,000 was raised for programming at Hearth Place for cancer patients and their families.
